Delegation of Northwest University Visits University of Leeds and University of Essex, UK
Jia Mingde, Vice Secretary of Party Committee and Vice President of Northwest University, visited the University of Leeds and University of Essex, with representatives from Office of International Affairs, School of History and teaching faculty from May 15th to 17th.
Professor Yu Haisui, pro-Vice Chancellor of University of Leeds and fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK, met with the delegation of Northwest University. A joint degree agreement was signed between the two sides. The meeting started with an introduction to the history and disciplinary construction of Northwest University by Jia Mingde. Based on the full affirmation of the achievements University of Leeds made in the fields of teaching and scientific research, talent cultivation, disciplinary construction and international exchange, NWU believes that a wide range of cooperation can be carried out between the two universities in the fields of discipline and talent cultivation, with the agreement on joint bachelor’s degree in History as the starting point.
The NWU delegation was received at the University of Essex by the Vice Chancellor Anthony Forster who fully affirmed the achievements made by both sides with respect to strategic collaboration in recent years. Jia Mingde said that since the signing of the intercollegiate exchange agreement with University of Essex on May 16th, 2016, a sound cooperative relationship has been established in a variety of aspects: the joint bachelor’s degree program of “Electronic Information Science and Technology”, the joint master’s degree program “1+1+1”, and the joint degree program “3+1” in the fields of English, Philosophy, Economic Management, Life Science and Information Science. In addition, a teacher training program has been conducted to expand and deepen the communication between teachers and students in history and other disciplines.
