NWU Gets on the list of QS Mainland China University Rankings 2019
On October 11th, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the UK education promotion organization, officially released its rankings of Chinese mainland universities 2019, which is the first independent analysis and evaluation ranking of university in mainland China by QS. There are 100 mainland universities on the list, including 42 universities of “World Class Universities”, 47 universities of "World-Class Disciplines" , and 10 non-"Double First Class" universities. NWU ranks 56th in mainland universities and 3rd in Shaanxi universities.
QS China University Ranking Indicator System includes: academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), teacher-student ratio (20%), teacher-to-doctoral proportion (10%), the number of articles cited (5%), the number of papers per capita(10%), international staff ratio (2.5%) and international student ratio (2.5%). For Chinese mainland universities, the index system has been refined and adjusted under the framework of world university ranking indicators and weights. The weight of “academic reputation” and “employer evaluation” were reduced and increased respectively, and the indicator of “Ratio of staff with a Ph. D Degree” was added. And “citations of papers” is refined as two indicators: “citation per paper” and “citation per faculty”. The weight of international staff ratio and international student ratio have been reduced.
QS Mainland China University Rankings 2019 is an indicator showing that the strength and international influence of universities in mainland China have been continuously improved after the construction of “Double First Class”. The entry of the QS 2019 ranking of China mainland university indicates that the discipline soft power of NWU has been further enhanced to a large extent and it can also serve as a valid data to facilitate NWU’s “double first-class” construction.
