Governor Liu Guozhong Visits NWU

On December 6, Governor Liu Guozhong visited NWU and delivered a report on the development of Shaanxi from the perspective of current situation and government policies. He stressed that it is necessary to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the thought of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China so as to build Shaanxi a province with distinctive strength in higher education.

Attendees of the meeting include Fang Weifeng, Secretary-General of Shaanxi Provincial government; Wang Jianli, director of the Shaanxi Provincial Education Department; Wang Yajie, Secretary of the Party Committee, NWU; Guo Lihong, president of NWU, and over 500 administration staff, teachers and students.


Liu Guozhong emphasized that Northwest University as a "double first-class" construction university, should fully implement the Party's education policy and cultivate high-quality talents by taki discipline construction as the lifeline, building high-level teaching staff as the fundamental for NWU’s development so as to serve social and economic development.

He hopes that NWU students cherish the present study opportunities, improve their skills and devote themselves to the development of Shaanxi province, making their contribution to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

As the chair of the meeting, President Guo said that as a comprehensive university with 116 years of historical and cultural heritage, NWU has received strong support and guidance from the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government. Governor’s visit is a great encouragement to all NWU staff and students at this critical stage of “Double First-class” construction. Northwest University will spare no efforts in deepening reform and improve the comprehensive quality of talent cultivation and research strength.
