Professor Liu Chiyang won the award for outstanding contribution to the implementation of national science and technology during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan”

On February 18th, 2011 a National Science and Technology conference was held in Beijing. The Ministry of Science and Technology summed up the scientific and technological work during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” and awarded outstanding collectives and individuals of National Science and Technology program during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan”. Professor Liu Chiyang from the Department of Geology, NWU won the award for outstanding contribution to implementation of national science and technology during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan”, as a chief scientist, Professor Liu Chiyang has undertaken and completed a National Key Basic Research Development Program (973 Program) entitled “Mechanism and Accumulation of Multi-minerals”. As a project leader, he presided over and completed many research projects including the national Natural Science Foundation project “Relation between the Development and Hydrocarbon Accumulation in Jiuquan Basin Group and the Formation and Evolution of the Tibetan Plateau”. It is reported that a total of 287 persons were awarded such an honor, 8 of whom are from Shaanxi.
