NWU Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Center on Digital Cultural Heritage Protection is Approved First Batch of National Centers
Recently, the NWU Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Center on Digital Cultural Heritage Protection has become the only approved first national batch center across Shaanxi provincial universities. It joins another 99 such centers in the nation. According to the 10 Year Plan for the Development of Education Informatization (2011-2020), in August 2013 the Ministry of Education was scheduled to launch the building of national level Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Centers. In terms of its digital cultural heritage protection, NWU has laid a solid foundation, and through the univerity’s selection, NWU determined that the School of Information and Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Center on Digital Cultural Heritage Protection should be declared a national virtual simulation teaching center. After a preliminary trial led by specialists from the Ministry of Education, and a second round of site-checking, five provincial universities including NWU were recommended to the Ministry of Education. Through the formal audit, network assessment and review meetings, the Ministry of Education finally chose 100 state-level virtual simulation teaching centers out of 219 centers proposed by the universities attached to different ministries, provinces and military academies. The Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Center is an exceptional teaching platform which combines professional disciplines and information technology to focus on building an environment for high-degree simulation experiments on the basis of informatization. NWU has taken this as an opportunity to accelerate the building of virtual simulation experiment teaching center. This can promote the informatization on experimental teaching, laying a solid foundation for strengthening innovation and the reform of experimental teaching at NWU.
