French Ambassador to China visited Northwest University
On the 10th of September, the French Ambassador Maurice Gourdault-Montagne, Counselor of Sustainability Office Mr. Jean le Pavec, Director of General Office Mr. Tristan Dufes, Cooperation Commissioner of Higher Education Ms. Sylvie Lemasson and interpreter Mr. Louis Belmont visited NWU. President Guo Lihong hosted these guests along with directors from President’s Office, Office of International Affairs, and Alliance Française Xi’an. President Guo Lihong firstly gave a warm welcome to the guests and declared that our university would continue to support Alliance Française Xi’an，hoping to have deeper cooperation with French universities. Mr. Ambassador highly appreciated the cooperation between Northwest University and Alliance Française Xi’an. He considered it as a good example to the 15 Alliance Française throughout China. He expected Alliance Française Xi’an to follow the Belt and Road Initiative and Developing the Third Party Market Cooperation Agreement between China and France, tighten the cooperation with Northwest University, educate talents mastering Chinese, French and their cultures, in order to serve the third party and finally achieve win-win status. President Guo Lihong expressed the willingness to cooperate with France and educate talents for the strategic cooperation between the two countries. After the meeting, Ms. Sylvie Lemasson had an in-depth discussion with directors from Office of International Affairs, Alliance Française Xi’an, School of Cultural Heritage, School of Public Management, School of Law and School of Arts on cooperation in the fields of humanity with French higher education institutes. They also reached a preliminary agreement on the cooperative methods. The University will communicate with French Embassy to China and promote the cooperation between NWU and French universities in the years ahead.
