Vice president of UTSC (University of Toronto Scarborough) visits Northwest University
Vice President of UTSC, Prof. Rick Halpern, Director of International Affairs, Mr. Jack Martin and Director of Asian Initiatives, Ms. Yan Yuan visited NorthwestUniversityin the afternoon of June, 12th. President Guo Lihong of NWU met the guests at Chang’an Campus. Representatives of Academic Affairs Office, International Affairs Office and College ofUrban and Environmental Science attended the meeting. Both sides recalled the activities and achievements conducted over the years, such as China and Canadian Symposium in Climate Change and students mobility programs, as well as discussing about the “2+2”joint program in the field of environmental science. Students at NWU will be offered the opportunity to study two years in NWU and two years at UTSU, and will be awarded degrees of both universities. UTSC and NWU agreed to sign a project agreement, and carry out joint education projects in a timely manner. According to Halpern, UTSC will offer scholarships to the chosen students at NWU to effectively promote the project and deepen cooperation. Besides, both universities would try every mean possible to promote the sustainable development of “UTSC and NWU Centre for Climate Change Research”.
