School of History held Politics and Society in Tang and Song Dynasties Seminar and National Doctoral Students ForumOn
On July 4th to 6th, Politics and Society in Tang and Song Dynasties Seminar and National Doctoral Students Forum co-hosted by The China Association for Song Dynasty Studies and School of History was held in Northwest University. More than 20 leading experts like the chairman of the China Association for Song Dynasty Studies and professor of Renmin University of China Bao Weimin, professor Fan Lizhou of Hangzhou Normal University and professor Cao Jiaqi of Sun Yat-sen University as well as doctors and masters from different universities and colleges attended the seminar.
On July 4th, experts gave two enlightening lectures about historical researches of Tang and Song dynasties. Professor Du Wenyu of Shaanxi Normal University gave a lecture named The Internal Changes of Social Stratums During The Period of Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties--- About the Tang-Song Transformation Theories. The lecture classified and analyzed various changes of social stratums such as the emperor class, bureaucratic class and peasant class from Tang Dynasty to Five Dynasties Period. The transformation between Tang Dynasty to Song Dynasty was further specified , and the specific knowledge of The Tang-Song Transformation Theories to all teachers and students was deepened . Professor Zhang Bangwei from Sichuan Normal University gave a lecture named Where To Go: How Could Social Research of Song Dynasty Break Through The Dilemma, and he pointed out to grasp the history between process and relation in case of the fragmentazation during research. He also emphasized the interaction between people, social system and political situation. Those points of view indicated the directions of social history research in our country presently, and deeply inspired the students who participated the lecture.
At the forum on July 5th, the chairman of the China Association for Song Dynasty Studies and professor of Renmin University of China Bao Weimin made a speech. There was a heated discussion between students and experts about history related issues. Interactions and communications not only enhanced the understanding among teachers and students, but motivated speculative spirit. Then, the forum proceeded orderly in five groups.
25 conference papers were included in this seminar, including 20 papers about political history and 5 about social history.
