The First Council Meeting of Confucius Institute at Northwest Nazarene University Held at Northwest University

On 4th of July, the first council meeting of Confucius Institute at Northwest Nazarene University was held on Taibai Campus, Northwest University. Joel Piersol, president of Northwest Nazarene University, visited NWU with a six-people group. Guo Lihong, president of NWU, and Jia Mingde, vice chairman and vice president, director of international office and teacher representatives of the Confucius Institute attended the meeting.

President Guo welcomed Piersol and his team, introduced the development history and and academic strength and features of NWU, and pointed out that both sides should continue to strengthen the development of Confucius Institute, and conduct further in-depth collaboration with the help of this institute. Piersol expressed his appreciation for NWU’s hospitality and all the efforts made during the preparation of this meeting. He said both sides should strengthen innovation consciousness, make full use of the platform of Confucius Institute so as to carry out more benefitial cooperation projects in the future.

This is the first council meeting since the upgrade from  Confucius Classroom to Confucius Institute. Northwest Nazarene University and NWU has continued the cooperation since 2009. Till now, there have been altogether 30 NWU students joining in this intercollegiate exchange program.
