WEST CHINA DEBATE OPEN 2016 Hosted in NWU
On September 16-17,
WEST CHINA DEBATE OPEN, co-hosted by Teaching Affairs Office and Law
Department, was held on Chang’an campus. NWU students won the top awards of
every category, including 7 group and individual awards.
The competition attracted 52 teams from 18 universities in China to participate in the contest, including 104 contestants, 28 Mandarin teams, and 24 English teams from Beijing Normal University, Liaoning Normal University, Xidian University, Northwest A&F University, and NWU etc. The competition adopted the point-accumulating competition system of the World Debate Competition, including preliminary, semi-finals and finals. The intense competition with witty interchange of ideas showed the wisdom of young students. In the final, Li Chenyang from Law Department, NWU, and Li Qingqing from School of Economics and Management, NWU, won championship of the Mandarin division, and Li Chenyang was also honored as the best debater of the Mandarin division; Yang Zhi from School of Chemistry and Material Science, NWU, and Yang Yiguang from School of Economics and Management , NWU, won championship of English division, and Yang Yiguang was also honored as the best debater of the English division. After the competition, Zeng Qingxi, head of the CHINA OPEN organization team, awarded NWU the honorary plaque “Senior Partner of CHINA OPEN”.
The competition provided debate enthusiasts with a platform for competition, which also enhances the academic and cultural exchange among them.
