"Confucius Institute Day" Celebration Held at Confucius Institute, Northwest Nazareth University
A celebration was held at Northwest Nazareth University on the evening of September 28th in honor of the 12th anniversary of Confucius Institute. More than 500 people attended the gala and its recreational activities, including President of Northwest Nazareth University Mr. Pearsall, Dean Nogales from the School of Arts and Sciences, Dean of the Confucius Institute Dr. Kellerer, Dean and teachers from China, students and faculty from Northwest Nazareth University, and Chinese students studying in Northwest Nazareth University.
The gala began with beautiful Gu Zheng performance and Chinese songs. Graceful melody, and high-hanging red lanterns and Chinese knot, sent the message of Chinese style. Xiao Aili, an American student from Confucius Institute, and Cao Yan, a Chinese student from Northwest University, co-hosted the party in both Chinese and English. They also introduced the characteristics of the Confucius Institute to university students and local residents. The show was interspersed with Chinese games: students learned to use writing brush to write their own Chinese names, experience kicking shuttlecock and pushing the iron ring.
The event attracted many teachers, students and local residents to join in it. Students participating in the activities said that the gala and the games not only made everyone happy, but also aroused people’s interest in China's language and culture.
