President of University of Essex Visited NWU
President of University of Essex, UK, Anthony Foster, visited NWU On October 18 with a team of 7 members. NWU President Guo Lihong met with the guests on Chang’an campus. The meeting was also joined by deans from Graduate School, International Exchanges and Cooperation Office, School of Information Science and Technology, School of Economics and Management, School of Philosophy and Social Sciences, and School of Foreign Languages.
During the talks, Guo Lihong extended a warm welcome to Anthony Foster and his team, and expressed his intention to conduct multidisciplinary, and comprehensive exchanges and cooperation between the two universities. Anthony Foster said that NWU is the most important partner of the University of Essex, and he was very confident about the joint school-running project between the two universities. The two universities’ presidents signed the “1+1+1” Master Degree cooperation agreement.
Director of International Exchanges and Cooperation Office , NWU reported the progress of the joint school-running project. Then the directors of Graduate School, School of Foreign Languages, School of Information Science and Technology, School of Philosophy and Social Sciences, and School of Economics and Management introduced their departments and hoped to further strengthen the exchanges and cooperation on teacher visiting, scientific research and student cultivation.
On October 19, the delegation of University of Essex visited School of Information Science and Technology, School of Economics and Management, School of Foreign Languages respectively and had an in-depth discussion on the details of cooperation project. Anthony Foster also held a special lecture at School of Information Science and Technology and interacted with the NWU students.
The University of Essex, founded in 1964, is a public comprehensive university charted by the Queen of England. The university has 17 schools and departments with more than 14000 enrolled students and 3000 teaching and administrative staff. The university has a powerful teaching and research capability and a high academic reputation, ranking top 30 of UK universities in the 2016/17 Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide. The university has a high level of internationalization, ranking No.21 in 2016 top 200 world’s most international universities of the Times. This visit is the third meeting between President Guo Lihong and President Anthony Foster within the year. It is of great significance for deepening mutual trust and understanding, and further promoting the future cooperation between the two universities.
