On November 21 Dunhuang City staged the unveiling ceremony of “The Innovative Talent Training Base for Silk Road Grottoes and Earthen Ruins Preservation”, co-devised by NWU and the Dunhuang Academy. NWU President Guo Lihong and Zhao Shengliang, Dean of the Dunhuang Academy, signed the joint construction agreement.
The Innovative Talent Training Base has installed identical display cases in the Dunhuang Academy and at NWU, which feature grottoes, murals and earthen ruins as objects for research. In-depth co-operation will be conducted between the two parties in the fields of heritage value interpretation, the formulation of preservation theory, preservation technology research and development as well as digital protection, inheritance and utilization. This co-operation, on the basis of scientific projects, helps both parties to give full play to their strengths in cultivating innovative talents.
