Recently, the Nature Index website updated the 2020 Global Nature Index ranking. NWU ranked 242nd on the list, with 114 articles and an article index of 55.42. Our university is placed 47th among universities in Mainland China and the second among universities under the administration of Shaanxi Province. Compared with the equivalent ranking in last December, it has risen to surpass 13 universities across the world and one institution in Mainland China.
In November 2014, the Nature Publishing Group released the Global Nature Index for the first time, which has now become an important indicator for evaluating the output of high-level academic achievements among scientific research institutions.
The index is based on calculations drawn from compiling statistics about the number of research papers published in 82 leading natural sciences journals, such as the Nature series, Science, Cell, etc. in the previous year as well as the scale of their contributions.
From 2016 to 2020, NWU has risen steadily in the global natural index, moving from 429th to 242nd, and ranking 40th among universities in Mainland China and second among universities under the administration of Shaanxi Province over the past two years.
