After the outbreak of the COVID-19, NWU has made efforts towards the prevention and control of the disease in an attempt to guarantee the safety of its personnel. Meanwhile, as a comprehensive university with the advantage of multiple disciplines, NWU organized, in quick response, academic teams and experts in medical-relevant disciplines to carry out scientific research.
Late January witnessed the launch of the NWU Emergency Research Guidance Fund for the Prevention and Treatment of COVID-19, the first initiative of its kind within Shaanxi Province. The fund provides financial assistance to support natural science researchers and in-service staff in affiliated hospitals to conduct scientific research into epidemic prevention & control, and follow-up work requirements in the fight against COVID-19.
To date, 28 projects have received support, among which 9 are key funded transformation projects and 6 key basic research projects. NWU will continue to fund urgent projects to meet the needs of the National Ministry of Science and Technology, the Provincial Science and Technology Department, the Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology as well as other provinces and cities in a timely manner.
