On the morning of March 6, Hu Heping, Secretary of Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, arrived at the Taibai campus of NWU to investigate the scientific research into the prevention and control of COVID-19. He stressed in the meeting that General Secretary Xi’s key speech and instructions should be studied in detail and implemented so as to prioritize scientific research into COVID-19 prevention and control as a major and urgent task. More support should be directed into scientific research so as to strengthen collaborative innovation and more contributions should be made to win the battle against COVID-19. During his investigation, Hu Heping listened to the latest progress in research as outlined by NWU professors Dai Penggao, Cui Yali, Fan Daidi, Xing Lianxi, and Li Zheng, et al. After examining products, like novel coronavirus nucleic acid detection reagents, he visited the basic laboratory of the National Center for Micro Detection System Engineering Technology Research to be informed about the principle of virus detection. Afterwards, he encouraged NWU scientific research personnel to integrate multidisciplinary experts to improve the performance capability of reagent testing to better meet the needs of rapid diagnosis and scientific prevention of COVID-19.
