The ranking released on 10th, June by Quacquarelli Symonds, a British organization specializing in education and studying abroad, lists 1000 universities and colleges in the world. It is the first time that NWU has been listed in the QS World University Ranking, coming in at No. 43 among Chinese Mainland Universities, also No.751-800 in the world and No.3 in Shaanxi. This indicates that NWU has made a new breakthrough in comprehensive strength and international influence.

To date, our university has entered the most celebrated four international university rankings, QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education  Ranking in the U.K., U.S. News Ranking in America, and Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) in China.

QS World University Rankings are now the most frequently searched university rankings, with the widest coverage of world universities. QS implements methods of comparative data collection and analysis to highlight institutions’ strengths and global influences. In China, QS rankings was considered as an important indicator for selecting the first batchDouble First-class Initiative” universities—first-class universities with first-class disciplines. This year’s QS rankings are based on the following pillars: academic reputation (40%), employer reputation (10%), citations per faculty (20%), faculty/student ratio (20%), international faculty (5%) and international students (5%).

Since the beginning of initiating its Thirteenth Five-Year Plan, NWU has been working with third-party institutions to prepare performance data for assessment and to implement benchmarking in international comparable indicators. Substantial progress has been made in NWU’s academic reputation and global influences, greatly help to enhance the quality and the effect of our efforts to make NWU a “Double First-Class” university.
