On the morning of April 1, the launch ceremony of the first batch of Foreign Experts Book Houses and book donation was held in the Higher Engineering Education Museum, iHarbour, Xi’an. The Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MST), the Department of Science and Technology of Shaanxi Province jointly granted the honour to Northwest University (NWU), marking NWU one of the first owners of ‘Foreign Experts Book House’ in Shaanxi Province. The ceremony was attended by Xu Qingqun, Chief Editor of the magazine International Talents sponsored by MST, Guo Jie, Deputy Inspector the Department of Science and Technology of Shaanxi Province, Professor Lai Shaocong, vice president of NWU, and member of the Standing Committee of NWU Party Committee, and the Director from the Office of International Cooperation of NWU.
Foreign Experts Book House aims to provide China-based foreign experts, foreign friends and international students with a favorable environment for reading and borrowing books concerning various topics.
The very book house in NWU received over 1,000 donated books in multiple languages, covering a variety of topics including China’s politics, economy, and culture. This honour showcases that NWU’s efforts to build an amicable community for foreign experts and international students from different countries and regions in recent years, have been given full recognition. Building on its previous efforts, NWU will make the book house a bridge to promote understanding between civilizations, and boost international exchanges, thus presenting a true, multi-dimensional and panoramic view of China to the world.
