On October 12th, NWU online courses for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship sponsored by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education (hereinafter referred to as "CLEC") was officially launched. A total of 348 students from Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Russia took part in the opening ceremony via platforms such as Dingding and Tencent Conference.
In the opening ceremony, Chanthana Weerasin, Foreign Language Director of Samakkhiwittayakom School in Chiang Rai, Thailand, expressed that Chinese language is very important and serves as a bridge between China and Thailand. This program will help to improve the Chinese language education in participating schools, enhance students' Chinese language skills and understanding of Chinese culture. Ms. Chantha Champiklang, Head of the Foreign Affairs of the Confucius classroom in Rayongwittayakom School in Thailand expressed her gratitude to the “CLEC” and Northwest University for their support during the pandemic situation. She said, the local epidemic is severe and has a significant influence on everyone's daily life and learning, however it does not affect the students’ enthusiasm of Chinese learning. She hopes that the students will harvest a lot from the online Chinese courses of NWU.
The students said that they cherish this precious opportunity and will try their best to improve their Chinese skills and lay a solid foundation. They also wish to have the opportunity to study in Northwest University in person.
