Shaanxi People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries visited Northwest University (NWU) to discuss the building of NWU Centre for Silk Road Archeological Cooperation, and Edgar & Helen Snow Studies Centre on the morning of November 24. NWU leadership attended the meeting.
NWU vice-president, Wu Zhenlei, briefed the officials on the university’s efforts of building the Centre for Silk Road Archeological Cooperation. Professor Wang Jianxin, leading expert of the centre, introduced the latest ground-breaking progress and the outlook in the field of archeology. The guests were also briefed on the work report of Edgar & Helen Snow Studies Centre, which was made by the director of the centre and leadership from NWU’s School of Foreign Languages.
The two centres aim to serve as an important bridge that links China and the rest of the world in terms of the promotion of academic exchanges and people-to-people communication, said NWU President Guo Lihong. Understanding where China currently stands, NWU will actively build the two centres based on the insight into the future.
Ms. Yao Hongjuan, director of the association noted that foreign friends can play a role in promoting friendly exchanges across the globe. She also called on the Office and NWU to contribute more to people-to-people exchanges and friendship between people from China and abroad.
