On August 23rd, at the invitation of the Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan, a five-member delegation led by Professor Wang Jianxin, Chief Scientist of the Collaborative Research Center for Archaeology of the Silk Roads of Northwest University, visited the Cultural Heritage Department of Uzbekistan. The first deputy director of the Department of Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan, Tursunali Kuziev, the archaeological advisor to the President of Uzbekistan, Zafar Khajimov, and relevant directors and professors of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Bureau of Cultural Heritage Protection in Tashkent State and Tashkent City attended the meeting.
Kuziev complimented the preliminary archaeological work of Northwest University had conducted in Uzbekistan and expressed his full support for the subsequent joint archaeological work of the Collaborative Research Center for Archaeology of the Silk Roads in Uzbekistan. He hoped that the Chinese side would provide technological assistance in archaeology, cultural heritage protection, restoration and management, especially in the protection of archaeological sites for Uzbekistan, and provide more opportunities in cultivating more Uzbekistan talents in the near future.
Professor Wang Jianxin stated that upon his returning to China, he will report to the relevant departments as soon as possible, and organize relevant Chinese institutions to send out delegation to visit the current situation of archaeological sites in Uzbekistan, from which he will select sites to jointly carry out site protection planning, archaeology, protection and display works, tourism development and other large sites protection work with the Uzbekistan side.
After the meeting, Prof. Wang Jianxin received a special interview with Uzbekistan's national TV and expressed his heartfelt wishes to the people of Uzbekistan who are about to celebrate the National Day.
