On the morning of June 27th, a bronze statue of Confucius was unveiled at our Chang’an campus. President of the World Confucian Confederation and President of Hong Kong Confucian Academy Tang Enjia, Vice Presidents Ke Yaohua, Liang Qiuyun and Wang Maiying, Honorary President Tang Hui’ai, Assistant to the President Han Xing, Professor of School of Chinese Studies of Renmin University of China and President of Xi’an Zhonghe Academy, President Guo Lihong, Deputy Chairman of the NWU Committee Council Zhang Qing, heads of relevant departments of NWU and representatives of teachers and students attended the ceremony. Chang Jiang, Vice President of NWU and general director of the 120th anniversary of the university, presided over the ceremony.
Tang Enjia, Guo Lihong, Zhang Qing and Xie Yangju, professor of the Institute of Chinese Thoughts and Culture of NWU, unveiled the bronze statue of Confucius, and the participating teachers and students bowed to the statue of Confucius to express their admiration and respect. Student representatives recited excerpts from the Analects of Confucius, and the student folk band performed the Chinese Zether “Hundred Flowers”.
The bronze statue of Confucius, located in front of the East Building of Chang’an Campus, is about 3.3 meters high and made of bronze except for the base, which was donated by Tang Enjia on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Northwest University.
