On June 27th, the inauguration ceremony of Research Center of Kyrgyz Studies and the academic exchange meeting on “Achievements and Prospects of Sino-Kyrgyz Cooperation” were held in Taibai Campus. Wang Yajie, Chairman of the NWU Committee Council, Dr.Khomeyni E, Consul General of Kyrgyzstan in Guangdong, Kanatbek Aziz, Director of National Institute of Strategic Studies under the President, Jolpon Koichumanova, Director of Central Asian Humanities Research Center of National Academy of Sciences, Zhang Ning, Director of Central Asia Research Department of Institute of Russian East European and Central Asian Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Gao Jixiang, Deputy Director of Russian Economic Research Department of Institute of Russian East European and Central Asian Studies, and experts and scholars of Central Asian Studies inside and outside the university attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Wang Yajie and Kanatbek Aziz inaugurated the Research Center of Kyrgyz Studies of Northwest University.
Professor Bazarbayev, Vice Rector of the Kyrgyz State University, Professor Yusupov, Director of the Center for Belt and Road Studies of the Kyrgyz State University, and Professor Shestakov, Director of the Center for Expert Initiatives of Kyrgyzstan, sent congratulatory letters expressing their support and good wishes for the establishment of the Research Center of Kyrgyz Studies of Northwest University. A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Institute of Silk Road Studies and the National Institute of Strategic Studies under the Kyrgyz President. Wang Yajie presented the appointment letters of part-time professors of the Institute of Silk Road Studies of Northwest University to Kanatbek Aziz and Jolpon Koichumanova.
In the seminar session, experts from China and Kyrgyzstan discussed the theme of “Building the Belt and Road: Achievements and Prospects of Sino-Kyrgyztan Cooperation”.
In order to implement the spirit of the China-Central Asia Summit and promote the construction of high-level think tanks in China and Central Asia, on June 2nd, the Research Institute of Central Asia Studies and the Institute of Silk Road Studies of Northwest University joined hands with several think tanks in Central Asian countries to establish the China-Central Asia Think Tank Alliance. The alliance continues to launch a series of lectures, inviting experts and scholars from Chinese and Central Asian universities and think tanks to exchange and discuss.
