In the afternoon of June 28th, the graduation ceremony and concert for the class of 2023 students were held in the sports stadium of Chang’an Campus. All the NWU leaders and representatives of teachers and students witnessed and wished 6668 graduates waved goodbye to the campus and headed for a new journey in life. The graduation ceremony was followed by the graduation concert of “New Journey, Building Dreams for the Future”.
During the graduation ceremony, the university leaders presented awards to the representatives of the Outstanding 2023 Graduating Students of Northwest University. Zhang Yurou, an undergraduate student from the School of Chemical Engineering, Mu Shihong, a doctoral student from the Institute of Middle East Studies, and Zhou Peng, an International undergraduate student from the School of Liberal Arts, gave speeches in which they recalled the stories of their struggle to become successful at their alma mater and expressed their gratitude and farewell to their alma mater. Professor Luan Xinjun of the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, a recipient of the National Outstanding Young Scientists Fund, spoke as a representative of teachers and expected all graduates to bravely embark on their journey. Zhi Zhenfeng, an alumnus of the 1997 class of the School of Law, a researcher and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and a representative of outstanding alumni, spoke, recalling his encounter with NWU 22 years ago and encouraging graduates to dare to dream, pursue their dreams and fulfill their dreams diligently.
In the program of thanking teachers, the graduates’ representatives bowed deeply to the teachers, administrative staff and logistics service staff of the school and held flowers as an expression of gratitude and respect. After that, experts, school leaders and special guests presented the graduate representatives with souvenirs of jade seals. Before the official start of the ceremony, a video of the message from the deans of each school (department) was shown, and they expressed their blessings and expectations for the graduates on behalf of each school (department).
During the concert, the student art association, graduate representatives, the university staff art group and international student representatives performed on stage, offering an audio-visual feast and winning the cheers and applause of the audience.
The ceremony and concert were broadcasted on CCTV, CNR, Shaanxi TV News, Shaanxi Education Chanel, Weibo Campus, Northwest University Wechat Video Platform, Weibo, Tiktok and other media platforms, with a total viewership of over 500,000.
