On the morning of July 21st, Deputy Director Bai Chongjun from the Provincial Department of Science and Technology (Provincial Bureau of Foreign Experts) led a delegation to present the 2021 Shaanxi Province “Sanqin Friendship Award” to Professor Franz Ekkehardt Hahn, a German expert at NWU. This award, the highest honor conferred by the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government to foreign experts working in Shaanxi, aims to recognize the outstanding contributions made by foreign experts who have significantly contributed to the economic and social development of our province as well as fostering international cooperation and exchange.
Deputy Director Bai Chongjun presented the certificate and trophy of the 2021 Shaanxi Provincial Government “Sanqin Friendship Award” to Professor Ekkehardt Hahn, expressing gratitude for Professor Hahn’s remarkable contributions to technological innovation, foreign cooperation, and exchange for both Shaanxi and Northwest University. He also encouraged Professor Hahn to continue promoting and recommending Shaanxi and to make further contributions to the economic and social development of the province.
In his speech, Professor Ekkehardt Hahn expressed his gratitude to the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology and Northwest University for their recognition and support. He mentioned that the “Sanqin Friendship Award” is not just a personal honor but also recognition of the entire team’s efforts. He expressed appreciation for the support from all parties to the International Joint Laboratory and conveyed his confidence in achieving more breakthroughs with the team in the future.
Professor Ekkehardt Hahn is a globally renowned organic and inorganic chemist. In 2017, he assisted in the establishment of the “Northwest University International Joint Laboratory for Functional Molecules and Energy Materials” as the foreign leader. This laboratory has evolved into a prominent platform for international exchange and cooperation in western China and has secured multiple national-level projects. The team’s accomplishments include publishing numerous papers in top-tier international chemistry journals and receiving the first prize of the 2021 Shaanxi Provincial Natural Science Award.
