In order to improve the quality of talent cultivation and enhance the global competitiveness of students, from July 23 to August 6, 24 outstanding students from the School of Cultural Heritage, the School of Economics and Management, the Department of Geology, the School of Life Sciences and other faculties, as well as their lead teachers, were sent to the United Kingdom to carry out the first batch of summer exchange and study visit activities.
The visit adopted a new mode of independent exploration, encouraging students to work together in small groups and cross-communication to carry out study visits and exchanges, and paying more attention to the cultivation of students’ independence ability and hobbies. 24 students of the program formulated personalized study visit plans according to their own majors and interests, and took part in subject-specialized exchanges, teacher-student talks and interactions, laboratory visits, lectures with famous professors, personalized tutoring, and British cultural social activities.
During the visit, Dr. Xiao Tiancun also arranged a seminar for the program students with the current students of Oxford University and the outstanding alumni of NWU, in which the outstanding alumni in the United Kingdom taught the students about their study, research and work experience. This program was supported by the “Northwest University - Xiao Tiancun Oxford Visiting Fund”.
