On the afternoon of September 22nd, a special research group composed of six members, including Deputy Director Zheng Han from the International Division of the Department of International Cooperation & Exchange of the Ministry of Education, along with experts and scholars, visited NWU to provide guidance on international student affairs. Lai Shaocong, Vice President, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Officials from the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Office of the Education Department of Shaanxi Provincial Government and leaders from relevant departments of NWU were also present. The meeting was hosted by the Dean of the School of International Education.
Lai Shaocong emphasized that Northwest University adheres to "NWU Go Global" strategy, fully leverages the university’s role in international exchanges and cooperation, and vigorously promotes the “Study at NWU” program. This has resulted in simultaneous improvements in both the scale and quality of international student education. The university achieves this by engaging in international cooperation and exchanges in distinctive academic disciplines, hosting a series of branded cultural events, and guiding international students to become practitioners of NWU’s spirit, ambassadors of Chinese culture, and facilitators of international friendship and cooperation. He expressed his hope for continued strong support from the International Division of the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Education Department to further expand the university’s international educational openness and achieve high-quality development in the field of international student affairs.
The Dean of the School of International Education provided a report on the university’s work regarding international students, covering four aspects: “adhering to reform and innovation while aligning with the opening of education to the outside world,” “maintaining quality and efficiency to promote high-quality international education development,” “emphasizing exchange and mutual learning to facilitate cultural understanding and cooperation,” and “adopting a global perspective to cultivate international talents.” Officials responsible for international student education management and enrollment and teaching also reported on existing issues and measures taken.
During the research period, the special research group also held discussions with relevant university departments, the administrative offices for international student education,academic faculties which are responsible for international student education, and some international students. They reviewed educational records and materials related to international students, inspected teaching facilities, and visited dormitories.
