“Xida Star” Sculpture Unveiled at Chang’an Campus

On October 15th, the unveiling ceremony of the Xida Star sculpture took place at the Changan Campus. University President Guo Lihong, Tian Minggang, Director of the Publicity Department, Dong Yun, Chairman of Xian Upstream Star Ecological Technology Co., Ltd., and Zhang Wenzhi, Deputy General Manager of Xian Optsensor Technology Co., Ltd., attended the unveiling ceremony. More than 80 people, including leaders from the University Administration, representatives from the Science and Technology Department, and students and faculty, participated in the event.

Guo Lihong, Zhang Qing, Tian Minggang, Dong Yun, and Zhang Wenzhi jointly unveiled the Xida Star sculpture. Guo Lihong presented donation certificates to Xian Upstream Star Ecological Technology Co., Ltd., and Xian Optsensor Technology Co., Ltd.

The Xida Star sculpture was created through an open call for design proposals organized by the 120th-anniversary celebration office of the university. The School of Fine Arts reviewed the proposals, and further artistic work was conducted by Professor Jiao Yanjun. Guidance was provided by Professor Qu Anjing, Dean of the Institute of Advanced Studies in the History of Science at Northwest University and a fellow of the International Academy of the History of Science, and Researcher Zhao Haibin, Director of the Department of Planetary Science and Deep Space Exploration at the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
