The First Expert Lecture on “Cultivation for Future Talents for International Organizations” was Held at Northwest University

On November 6th, the first Expert Lecture for the Series on Cultivation for Future Talents for International Organizations was held on Changan Campus, with Prof. Pier Francesco Fumagalli, who is the former deputy director of Ambrosio Library in Milan, Italy, the former director of the Oriental Studies Department, a famous sinologist, and an alumnus of the NWUs outstanding international students, as the keynote speaker. Prof. Lai Shaocong, Vice President of NWU, delivered a welcome speech and issued a certificate of appointment of visiting professor to Prof. Fumagalli, and nearly 100 Chinese and foreign teachers and students listened to the lecture.

Mr. Fumagalli gave a lecture entitled “East-West Dialogue at the Ambrosian Library in Milan”. He displayed the relevant documents and pictures of Ambrosio Library, compared the ancient Greco-Roman civilization with the Chinese civilization, explained the significance of strengthening the dialogue between East and West civilizations and actively promoting the exchange and mutual understanding between the East and West, and interpreted the great contribution of the “One Belt and One Road” to the exchange and integration of many fields, such as economy, science & technology, education, and culture, from the perspective as an European sinologist.

Before the lecture, Mr. Fumagalli also visited the library of NWU and the Collaborative Research Center for Archaeology of the Silk Roads, and had a discussion and exchange the ideas with the relevant faculty and researchers on history of Sino-Western interactions, library collection management, archaeological cooperative research and personnel training, international exchange and cooperation, and other topics.
