On February 8, the Chinese and foreign teachers and students welcomed the Year of the Dragon with the theme of “Dragon Soars Accross the Seas, Welcomes Spring from Five Continents”, which was held on Taibai Campus. Sun Qingwei, vice president (presiding over the administrative work), and Cao Rong, vice president, attended the event, and more than 100 people, including officials of relevant schools and departments of the university as well as foreign teachers and international students, participated in the event to welcome the arrival of the Chinese New Year together.
On behalf of the university, Sun Qingwei sent festive greetings and New Year blessings to the Chinese and foreign teachers and students attending the event. He reviewed the achievements of the university in international exchanges and cooperation as well as international student cultivation in the past year, and encouraged all international students to learn their majors well while gaining a deeper understanding of the real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China, to play an active role in promoting people-to-people communication among people of different countries, and to contribute to the promotion of humanistic exchanges between China and foreign countries and to the building together a community of shared future for mankind.
Sun Qingwei and Cao Rong presented holiday gifts to the foreign teachers present, and awarded certificates and prizes to our outstanding international students of 2023.
International students performed a wonderful song and dance programs, and students from Thailand, Russia, Turkmenistan, Albania, Mexico and other countries also elaborately made “Silk Road Cuisine” with special flavors of their respective countries. Chinese and foreign teachers and students wrote Spring Festival couplets, cut window flowers, tasted dumplings, and sent lucky charms to welcome the festive season together, and exchanged views on learning, life, food and festival customs in a relaxed and cordial manner, with laughter and warmth and a festive atmosphere of joy and peace.
Foreign teachers and international students said that the celebrations made them feel the sincere care of the university and the warmth of the campus family, and also gave them a more sincere experience and deeper understanding of the excellent traditional Chinese culture; Chinese teachers and students also said that they could enjoy the singing and dancing performances and food from different countries together with teachers from abroad on the campus of Northwest University, which represents the cultural diversity and the long-lasting friendship. The joint celebration activity made the new year of Jiachen Dragon more significant and meaningful.
