On the evening of December 14th, “Rediscovering the Spirit of Sages, Striving to be the New Cultural Ambassadors”, a theme speech contest for Chinese and foreign students of Northwest University, was held on Taibai Campus. The contest aims to promote mutual understanding and communication between students of different cultural backgrounds, improve the Chinese language proficiency of international students and the cross-cultural communication ability of Chinese students, and actively carry forward the spirit of the sages. Lv Jianrong, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of NWU, and the relevant faculty and staff attended the contest.
During the contest, the participating students delivered their speeches with full enthusiasm and high spirit, presenting an audio-visual feast for the audience. The topics of their speeches were rich and colorful, including profound interpretation of the spirit of the sages, unique insights into the differences between Chinese and foreign cultures, as well as the eager expectation for future exchanges and cooperation. During the event, international students from Uzbekistan gave a wonderful dance performance.
After the speeches, eight international students, who are new to Chinese language learning, went on stage to recite the university song of Northwest University. They not only demonstrated the progress of their Chinese learning, but also conveyed their deep feelings for NWU.
This contest is not only a display of language talent, but also a cultural exchange and integration. It provides a valuable platform for Chinese and foreign students to have a deep understanding of different cultures and enhance their intercultural communication ability, demonstrates the capabilities of Chinese and foreign students, and plays a positive role in carrying out Chinese-foreign cultural exchanges and the cultivation of internationalized talents.
