SUN Qingwei Attends the 2nd Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology

From June 10 to 12, the 2nd Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. DING Xuexiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. The opening ceremony was chaired by YIN Hejun, Minister of Science and Technology of China. Approximately 1,500 participants, including scientists, corporate executives, government officials, and representatives of international organizations from China and abroad, attended the opening ceremony.

The conference theme was Building a Road of Innovation and Promoting Cooperation and DevelopmentWorking Together to Build a Belt and Road Science and Technology Innovation Community. Eight significant outcomes and the Chengdu Declaration on Jointly Building a Belt and Road Science and Technology Innovation Community were released during the conference. A series of bilateral intergovernmental science and technology cooperation documents were signed, several special Belt and Road Sci-Tech innovation cooperation plans in key fields were launched, and multiple exchange platforms integrating Industry, Education, Research and Application were established.

During the conference, SUN Qingwei and Barnabas Nawangwe, Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, Uganda, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Northwest University (NWU) and Makerere University at the Belt and Road International Technology Transfer Case Sharing and Technical Matchmaking Meeting. Mathias Ssemanda, Director of International Affairs at Makerere University; David Mwesigye Tumusiime, Head of the Makerere University Biological Field Station; Professor Aria Patrick Omeja; and representatives from NWU also visited the project achievements exhibition.
