On the morning of October 15, the grand celebration of 118th anniversary of Northwest University (NWU) was held in its Chang’an Campus. The president of NWU Guo Lihong attended the celebration.
In his opening remarks, President Guo spoke highly of ‘NWU Spirit in the new era’: the courage to act as a pioneer, the vitality to grow from the vibrant present to the promising future, the dedication to hard work without seeking fame or fortune. He hoped that all attendees should cherish the historical and cultural traditions which have been developed since NWU’s founding 118 years ago, with an aim to foster and promote NWU Spirit. He then stressed that we should pursue reform and opening-up to lead the trend of time, attach importance to higher-quality development to surpass what we have achieved, and focus on the need of national strategies to make contributions.
After the speeches was the award ceremony. Excellent teachers, researchers and staff, including those who have taught in NWU for over 30 years, received medals from leaders of the university. Also, outstanding CPC Party members of NWU were honored during the section.
The ceremony also witnessed the signing of several important agreements on establishing a film academy, and strategic cooperation with Xidian University and Hainan Yuemeiyue Culture & Tourism Co, Ltd. respectively.
