Northwest University and Peking University Forges Comprehensive Collaboration on Archeology

         The signing ceremony of a comprehensive partnership agreement between Northwest University(NWU)’s School of Cultural Heritage and Peking University (PKU)’s School of Archeology and Museology was held on April 27. Hao Ping, President of PKU, and Guo Lihong, President of NWU attended the event and delivered speeches.

Other leaders from both universities attended the ceremony. They are: Zhang Wenping, Vice President of PKU; Chang Jiang, member of the standing committee of NUW’s Party Committee and also the Vice President of NWU; Lai Shaocong, member of the standing committee of NWU’s Party Committee and also the Vice President of NWU; representatives from NWU’s Office of Development Planning and Discipline Construction, and NWU’s School of Cultural Heritage.

Professor Ma Jian, Dean of NWU’s School of Cultural Heritage and Professor Chen Jianli, Party Secretary of PKU’s School of Archeology and Museology signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective party during the event.

The two universities’ cooperation on archaeology will focus on three programmes: Party Building as Priority Programme, Talent Nurturing Programme, and Discipline Resources Sharing Programme. The two schools from the two universities will deepen their efforts to share resources, complement each other’s strength, build connectivity in teaching and research resources. In so doing, a new cooperation mechanism featuring granting adjunct faculty positions in both schools, exchanging ideas and mutual learning, as well as sharing academic outcomes would contributes more to archaeology with distinctive Chinese characteristics.
