NWU Alumnus Professor Shu Zhenjie elected foreign academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences

Professor Shu Zhenjie, Class of 1986 graduate of Northwest University’s (NWU) Department of Physics, was elected as the new foreign academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RANS) for his outstanding contributions to aeronautical standardization with Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) aeronautical standardization in particular. In the letter to Prof. Shu, Professor Oleg L. Kuznetsov, president of RANS congratulated him on his election. On October 7, Prof. Shu received the certificate from RAEN from Mr. Alexander Ermolaev, Russian Science and Technology Counselor to China, who was on behalf of the academy.


Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RANS) is the largest Russian academy of sciences recognized by the United Nations for its prestigious academic influence. RAEN includes scientists and experts who have made outstanding achievements in such fields as natural sciences, humanities sciences. At the moment, RANS consists of 24 central sections. Among its members, 18 are Nobel laureates, over 270 academicians of Russian Academy of Sciences and more than 30 academicians of Russian Academy of Medica Sciences. Its foreign academicians are from 48 countries who have been cited for their prestigious contributions, including some of China’s academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering.
