Online meeting held for promoting the construction of Collaborative Research Centre for Archaeology of the Silk Roads between Shaanxi Province and Chinese Embassy in Turkmenistan

On the afternoon of June 22, Shaanxi Province and the Chinese Embassy in Turkmenistan held an online meeting to promote the construction of the Collaborative Research Centre for Archaeology of the Silk Roads. The Chinese Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Mr. Qian Naicheng, the Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shaanxi Provincial Government, Ms. Yao Hongjuan, Chairman of the NWU Council, Mr. Wang Yajie, Vice President of NWU, Mr. Wu Zhenlei, Deputy Director of the Provincial Friendship Association, Mr. Cao Hui, Chief Scientist of the Collaborative Research Centre for Archaeology of the Silk Roads, Prof. Wang Jianxin, together with the experts from the Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics, the Provincial Institute of Archaeology, the Xi'an Institute of Conservation and Archaeology, the ICOMOS Xi'an International Conservation Centre, and faculty and staff from the relevant departments and offices of NWU participated in the meeting.


Qian Naicheng and the participants exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between the two countries friendship cities and joint archaeological research.


In her speech, Yao Hongjuan thanked Ambassador Qian Naicheng for his guidance and assistance to Shaanxi in promoting the implementation of the outcome of the second meeting among the Foreign Ministers of China and five Central Asian countries, and she introduced the exchanges and cooperation had been carried out between Shaanxi Province and Turkmenistan.


Wang Jianxin systematically introduced the history of archaeological research along the Silk Road at Northwest University, the current situation of the Collaborative Research Centre for Archaeology of the Silk Roads, and proposed the plan for near future work in Turkmenistan.


Wang Yajie sincerely invited Ambassador Qian to visit the NWU in order to improve the exchange between the Turkish universities and Northwest University to various extend.
