Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the results of filing and approval of undergraduate majors in general higher education universities and colleges for the year 2022, and the major of Earth Information Science and Technology of NWU was approved to be established.
Up to now, there are 88 undergraduate majors offered in NWU, 3 bases of geology, chemistry and economics have been selected as “2.0 bases of the Ministry of Education’s Basic Discipline Top-notch Student Training Program”, 2 bases of archaeology and biological science have been selected as “2.0 bases of Shaanxi Province’s Basic Discipline Top-notch Student Training Program”, 54 majors have been selected as “Double Million Plan” for the construction of first-class undergraduate majors.
The major of Earth Information Science and Technology is oriented to the demand of high quality talents for the sustainable development of national economy, science and technology and society, cultivating high quality complex professional and technical talents who master the basic theories, methods and skills of earth science and information science, have the ability to acquire, manage, analyze and comprehensively apply geospatial information by using the integrated earth exploration technology of space, air and earth, and solve the complex engineering problems in the field of geology informationization, and have the innovative spirit and international vision.
