The President of Lumbini Buddhist University in Nepal visited Northwest University

On the afternoon of May 16th, President Tilakram Acharya, together with the Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Director of the International Exchange Office of Lumbini Buddhist University in Nepal came to visit Northwest University.

President Guo Lihong welcomed the visit of President Acharya and his delegation. He recalled the early cooperation between Northwest University and Lumbini Buddhist University and the exchange of visits with Nepalese universities, and especially mentioned the inauguration of the Nepal Research Center under the Research Institute of the Silk Road at Northwest University with former Prime Minister of Nepal Madhav Kumar Nepal in April 2018. He said that since then, academic exchanges and cooperation between Northwest University and Nepalese universities and research institutions have entered a fast track. He mentioned that China and Nepal have a long history of humanistic exchanges and enjoyed a very deep friendship, and looked forward to further strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.

President Acharya introduced the basic information of Lumbini Buddhist University such as historical development, university settings and discipline construction. He mentioned that the main difficulties faced by Nepali students studying in China are the difficulty of learning Chinese and the poor information channels for studying in China, so Lumbini Buddhist University plans to promote Chinese language education throughout the university and broaden the channels for students to study in China. He hoped to have more cooperation with the university in the areas of mutual visits of teachers and students, construction of professional courses and academic research, especially in the field of archaeology.

Before the meeting, President Tilakram Acharya and his delegation visited the university museum and Professor Yue Yus Eastern Wisdom - Changan People Buddhist Art Exhibition.
