“Chinese Bridge” Educators’ Tour to China was held at Northwest University

In order to enhance people’s understanding of Chinese language and culture, and to promote the establishment of partnership between Chinese and foreign schools and universities, the welcome ceremony of the 2023 Northwest University “Chinese Bridge” Educators’ Tour to China was held on July 11th at Taibai Campus. This program is sponsored by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and hosted by NWU. Thirty-one educators from 13 schools in 7 countries, including France, Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Nepal, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia, attended the ceremony.

NWU arranged six days of rich cultural exchange activities for the delegation. After listening to the two presentations on “Characteristics of Chinese Civilization” and “Trends of China’s Higher Education Reform and Development in the Context of a Strong Educational Country”, the members of the delegation of educators discussed the similarities and differences of civilizations of different countries and the current situation and challenges of the development of higher education, especially the history, current situation and existing problems of Chinese language education, with the experts and professors of the university. Members of the delegation also visited Xi’an Collection Center of China-EU Express Center, BYD Group, Aiju Group and other enterprises, visited Xi’an historical and cultural landmarks such as Xian Beilin Museum, and the City Wall, experienced Chinese medicine and health care, and Datang Tea Ceremony, so as to gain a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of Xi’an’s history, culture and modernization, and also had a discussion and exchange of views with the international students of NWU.

During the event, the Office of International Cooperation (School of International Education) also organized six exchange and cooperation talks, and reached a number of cooperation intentions with the visiting institutions, such as mutual visits of teachers and student mobility exchange programs,setting the foundation for the next step to promote practical cooperation.
