Symposium on Mesozoic Tectonic Evolution of the East Asian Continents was held in NWU

On March 9, the Symposium on Mesozoic Tectonic Evolution of the East Asian Continents, sponsored by the Department of Geology and the National Key Laboratory of Continental Dynamics of Northwest University, was held on the Taibai Campus. Zhang Peizhen, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of Tectonic Geology and Geodynamics Committee of Chinese Geological Society, professor of Sun Yat-sen University, Zhang Guowei, Shu Degan, Zhao Guochun, academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, professors of Department of Geology of NWU, Ren Jianguo, director of Geological Discipline Division of Earth Science Department of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Jiang Lin, Chairman of the NWU Council, and more than 120 experts and scholars from relevant universities and scientific research institutes in China attended the symposium.

The symposium included 15 reports on the latest progress, problems, future trends and research proposals on Mesozoic tectonic evolution in different regions of China, such as North China, South China, Northeast China, Central Orogeny, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, West Yunnan-Longmen Mountains, Tianshan Mountains, and the Western Pacific Ocean, etc. The delegates carried out in-depth discussions and exchanges based on the contents of the reports.
