Peking University President Gong Qihuang Visited Northwest University

May 19th, Peking University President, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Gong Qihuang came to Northwest University. Wang Shusheng, director of the Provincial Education Department, Sun Qingwei, President of Northwest University, and Shu Degan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, participated in the discussion.

Gong Qihuang and the delegation visited the Earth Science Exhibition Hall of Northwest University Museum, listened to the introduction of relevant exhibitions in the fields of Qinling orogenic belt, petroleum geology, early life evolution, and paleo-vertebrate evolution, and carried out interactive exchanges on related issues.

At the discussion, Sun Qingwei introduced the brief situation of Northwest University. He hoped to take this discussion as an opportunity to further strengthen communication, learn from the good experience and practices of Peking University’s development, and continuously improve the effectiveness of the construction of “double first-class”.

Gong Qihuang said that Shaanxi Province is an important economic center in the western region and a new engine for the development of western China, and that Peking University has an important responsibility and mission in signing the strategic cooperation agreement with Shaanxi Province. Northwest University enjoys deep cultural heritages and distinctive features and advantages in basic research and other fields. He hoped to give full play to the role of bridge and linkage of outstanding alumni, promote both sides to further strengthen communication, enhance friendship, complement each other’s strengths, cooperate and win-win, and strive to realize the high-quality development of both sides’ undertakings.
