On May 23rd, the 2024 National Conference on Digital Cultural Heritage and the 17th National Symposium on Digitization and Protection of Digital Museums and Cultural Heritage was held at Northwest University. This conference is hosted by the China Society of Image and Graphics and organized by the Special Committee on Digital Cultural Heritage, Northwest University and Northwestern Polytechnical University. more than 200 experts and scholars attended the conference.
Jiang Lin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, and Sun Qingwei, President of the University, attended the conference; Shu Degan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of the Department of Geology, gave an invited report; the officials of the relevant units of NWU, and the representatives of the teachers and students from the School of Information Science and Technology and the School of Cultural Heritage attended the conference.
In his speech, Sun Qingwei expressed his welcome and thanks to the participating leaders and experts. He briefly introduced the achievements of the archaeological and information disciplines of NWU in the digitalization and visualization of cultural heritage, the protection of archaeological resources under the environment of big data, and the virtual repair and restoration of computer-aided cultural relics. He emphasized that the digitization and intelligence of cultural heritage-related industries are of great significance to the inheritance and promotion of Chinese outstanding traditional culture, and hoped that the participating experts and scholars would express their views, contribute to the construction of the innovative mode of "Internet + Chinese civilization", and make new and greater contributions to the promotion of China's information technology and the high-quality development of the cause of cultural heritage protection.
At the opening ceremony, Pan Zhigeng, Chief Scientist of the National Key Research and Development Program Project, Director of the Special Committee on Digital Cultural Heritage of China Society of Image and Graphics, Professor of Nanjing University of Information Engineering, and Wang Wei, Joint Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary General of the Cultural and Creative Industries Association of Haidian District, Beijing, on behalf of the Special Committee on Digital Cultural Heritage of the China Society of Image and Graphics and the Cultural and Creative Industries Association of Haidian District, Beijing, signed the framework agreement of cooperation, to establish a working group to jointly promote the deep integration of digital cultural heritage and cultural and creative industries. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Geng Guohua, Guo Zongming and Wang Jian, Vice Chairman of the Special Committee on Digital Cultural Heritage of the China Society of Image and Graphics.
Through the invited report session, Shu Degan, Wang Chunfa, Song Jirong respectively delivered reports entitled on “ the ancestral tracing and digital resurrection 500 million years ago,” “The research and practice of the wisdom museum construction,” “the Cultural Relics Hospital of Imperial Palace Museum”.
The conference set up cutting-edge technology invited reports, cultural and museum industry forum, key research & development projects, technical and popularization reports, thesis collection and top publication & conference paper exchange, results display and demonstration as well as museums on-site visits and exchanges, and so on.
