A NWU delegation led by Jiang Lin visited archaeologists in Uzbekistan in order to expand international cooperation

From May 17 to 20, Jiang Lin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Northwest University, led a delegation to Uzbekistan, paid a visit to the Ambassador of the Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan, and visited three think tanks, scientific research institutes and universities, including the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, the Samarkand Institute for Archaeological Research, and the Tashkent State University, to deepen and expand the high-quality international cooperation projects of the university with Uzbekistan in terms of joint scientific research and cooperation with think tanks. The directors of the Office of International Collaboration and the Institute of Silk Road Studies accompanied the delegation.

In the Samarkand Institute for Archaeological Research, Jiang Lin and the delegation members visited the teachers and students of the Central Asian Archaeology Team of NWU who are carrying out joint archaeological work in Uzbekistan, visited the exhibition of Chinese-Uzebkistan Joint Archaeological Achievements, the Laboratory of Archaeological Techniques, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Relics, and Afrasiab Site of the Samarkand Institute of Archaeology, and held in-depth discussions with the experts at the site on the issues of Chinese-Uzebkistan joint efforts to carry out protection of large sites in Uzebkistan. Zhao Rong, Director of Collaborative Research Center for Archaeology of the Silk Roads, accompanied the visit.

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the China-Central Asia Summit, the delegation of the university visited Uzbekistan, which is of great significance to promote the deep integration of the university into the One Belt, One Road Initiative, implement the results of the China-Central Asia Summit, enhance the role of archaeological first-class disciplines as a driving force, and promote the research in regional country studies.
