On the afternoon of October 16th, Vice President Akhmadaliyev Yusupjon of Fergana State University of Uzbekistan and his three-member delegation visited Northwest University, President Sun Qingwei met with the delegation and delivered a speech, relevant persons in charge of the Collaborative Research Center for Archaeology of the Silk Roads and the School of Cultural Heritage attended the meeting.
Sun Qingwei welcomed the visit of Akhmadaliyev and his delegation, and introduced the basic information of Northwest University, as well as the cooperation progress between the university and Ferghana State University and other Uzbek universities and research institutions in talent training, joint archaeology and cultural exchanges, etc. He pointed out that at the beginning of this year, the two universities signed a cooperation agreement on the establishment of a joint archaeology department in Uzbekistan with the support of NWU and hoped that the two parties would continue to deepen the practical cooperation, actively promote the archaeology department co-construction program, and jointly cultivate more high-level talents, and jointly produce more cooperation results with international influence.
Akhmadaliyev expressed his gratitude to the Central Asia Archaeological Team of Northwest University for providing unique and fruitful ideas for the archaeological work in Uzbekistan from an oriental perspective, and theInternational Seminar on the “Protection and Utilization of Silk Road Cultural Heritage: History, Art and Technology”, which was held in Uzbekistan earlier this month, also provided valuable guidance for its future work on cultural heritage preservation. It is hoped that the China-Central Asia Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Human and Environment Research (C-CHEL) jointly established by the two parties will be joined by more interdisciplinary and cross-field high-level experts in the future.
The delegation also visited the NWU Museum and the Archaeological Laboratory of the School of Cultural Heritage during their stay.
