Delegation from Fergana State University, Uzbekistan Visits Northwest University

On the afternoon of March 17, a delegation led by Vice Rector Otabek Makhmudov from Fergana State University, Uzbekistan visited NWU.

CAO Rong, vice President of NWU, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. She reviewed the fruitful cooperation between the two institutions and expressed hope that the visit would serve as a catalyst to promote the collaboration in talent cultivation, joint research platform development, and cultural exchanges, aiming for more substantial outcomes.

Makhmudov highlighted the enduring partnership and deep friendship between the two universities. He noted that joint efforts to establish an Archaeology Department will officially commence in September 2025 and emphasized the importance of gradually deepening future cooperation.

MA Jian, professor from the School of Cultural Heritage in NWU, mentioned that the China-Central Asia “Belt and Road” Joint Laboratory for Human and Environment has already established sub-centers in Samarkand and Termez, Uzbekistan. He proposed further collaboration to strengthen laboratory construction and conduct joint scientific research.

During the discussion, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on next-step priorities, including curriculum design, faculty arrangements, and laboratory development. Following the discussion, the delegation toured the laboratories of the School of Cultural Heritage.
