Recently, the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) announced the 2024 national “Understanding China” excellence courses and Sino-foreign youth social practice base construction achievements. A total of 111 courses and 115 bases were shortlisted nationwide, with NWU achieving the first-time dual recognition of both an excellence course and a practice base.
NWU is one of three universities in Shaanxi Province—alongside Xi’an Jiaotong University and Northwestern Polytechnical University—to be “double shortlisted.” Additionally, NWU’s practice base showcase video was selected as a representative achievement of Shaanxi Province for inclusion in the national promotional video.
NWU’s awarded course, “China Overview,” is taught by the School of International Education. Comprising 11 modules such as “Magnificent Landscapes” and “Past and Present,” the course integrates traditional culture, historical development, and contemporary national conditions. It aims to help international students gain a profound understanding of Chinese culture and a comprehensive familiarity with modern China. The course also emphasizes guiding students to objectively compare cultural differences, identify commonalities, and cultivate their ability to proactively introduce Chinese culture and narrate China’s stories.
