NWU Hosts the 15th China-Korea Academic Exchange Conference

On May 15th, 2025, the 15th Academic Exchange Conference between Northwest University and Konkuk University of South Korea was held at the Changan Campus of NWU. The conference was organized by the Institute of Charity Research of NWU. Attending the conference were Professor KANG Yungkye, former Vice President of Konkuk University and a key founder of the academic exchange program between the two universities; FAN Daidi, Member of the Standing Committee of the NWU Party Committee and Vice President of NWU; and YANG Chunde, former Vice President of NWU and initiator of the academic exchange program. A delegation of nine experts from the Korean side, along with heads of relevant NWU units and representative scholars, also participated.

The theme of 2025 China-Korea Academic Exchange Conference was Cultural Differences and Integration. More than 20 scholars from both countries explored the resolution of cultural differences and the optimization of mechanisms for civilizational integration from various disciplinary perspectives, including philosophy, ethics, and comparative civilizations. A 20-year retrospective video on cooperative exchanges was produced and screened during the event. Professors from Konkuk University were also presented with commemorative Time-Honored Magnolia Cups marking the 20 years of exchange and cooperation.

In 2006, NWU and Konkuk University signed an international exchange and cooperation agreement, agreeing to hold an academic conference annually, with the two sides taking turns to host it every other year. Since the signing of the agreement, scholars from both universities have used academic exchange as a bond, starting with East Asian Civilization and Social Development, focusing on charity exchange research, and initiating transcontinental intellectual dialogues. Each conference has had a specific theme, and 15 sessions have been held to date. Experts have participated by exchanging academic papers to foster friendships, resulting in the compilation and publication of seven volumes of Sino-Korean academic conference proceedings so far.
