On May 23rd, the “2025 Silk Road International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application” was held in Xi’an, China. The conference was hosted by the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province and organized by the Department of Education of Shaanxi Province and Northwest University.
During the conference, the “Academic Alliance for China-Arab Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning” was officially launched. The Alliance was jointly initiated by the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies of NWU, the Center for Middle Eastern Studies of Fudan University, the China-Arab Research Center on Reform and Development, the Chinese Institute of Arab States at Ningxia University, Mohammed V University (Morocco), University of Algiers 3 (Algeria), and Suez Canal University (Egypt).
The opening ceremony featured the inauguration of the “Intelligent Perception Laboratory for Situational Awareness in Countries along the Silk Road”. A series of other events also took place, including the launch ceremony for the “Translation Series on Regional and National Histories: African History”, the “Awarding Ceremony of the Title of Full Member-Academician of the Kyrgyzstan Republic Academy of Mining Science”, and the appointment of an Arab League Ambassador as an International Advisor to NWU. These initiatives aim to institutionalize cooperation between Chinese universities/research institutions and their counterparts in Central Asia and Arab states, thereby elevating the level of collaboration.
On the 22nd, during the launch ceremony of the 2025 Silk Road International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application and Educational Exchange Activities, President SUN Qingwei participated in the inauguration of the “China-Kyrgyzstan Belt and Road Joint Laboratory for Dynamic Hazards and Prevention of Special Geotechnical Materials” with Professor SYRYMBEKOVA Ibraevna, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University, and unveiled the “Turkmenistan Research Center” with Serdar Mashalikov, Researcher from the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
