On the morning of July 19, 2025, Rezki Sahrawi, member of the Central Committee of the Rassemblement National Démocratique of Algeria and member of the China Association of friendly Arab, led a delegation of Algerian media scholars to visit Northwest University. An exchange seminar was held.
Rezki Sahrawi fondly recalled the history of friendly cooperation and mutual assistance between China and Algeria. He spoke highly of the achievements made by the School of Regional Studies, the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies, and the Algeria Research Center at NWU in the fields of African and Algerian studies. He expressed his hope that this visit would enable Algerian media scholars to fully leverage their role as a bridge, further deepen mutual understanding, expand areas of cooperation, and provide comprehensive support for strengthening the China-Algeria comprehensive strategic partnership.
The head of the School of Regional Studies introduced the relevant situation of the School and the Center. Scholars from NWU interacted and exchanged views with representatives of the Algerian media scholars. Prior to the meeting, the delegation visited the School of Regional Studies and the Algeria Research Center.
In October 2023, during the visit of an Algerian Political Party Cadres Delegation, NWU established China’s first Algeria Research Center. In November 2024, an NWU delegation visited Algeria and reached numerous cooperation agreements with the University of Algiers 3 and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Algeria. These agreements cover joint research on China-Algeria civilization exchange and mutual learning, translation of classic works, faculty and student exchanges, and the joint establishment of a research center. In May 2025, the Training Program for Mid-to-Senior Level Algerian Diplomats and a delegation of Algerian War Veterans visited NWU successively.
