NWU-CHINA-C Team from NWU Wins Global Gold Medal at 22nd International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition

Recently, the 22nd International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM) was held in Paris, France. The NWU-CHINA-C team from the School of Chemical Engineering of Northwest University (NWU) won a global gold medal with their project Targeting DDRs: Modular Biomanufacturing of Collagen.

This marks the fourth time that a team from NWU has won a gold medal at iGEM, and the first time the School of Chemical Engineering has received this honor, fully demonstrating the universitys scientific research strength and innovative vitality in the field of synthetic biology.

The International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM) was initiated by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States in 2003. Since 2005, it has developed into an international academic competition for university students worldwide, aiming to promote the development of synthetic biology and foster international exchange and cooperation. It has attracted active participation from prestigious universities such as Harvard University, Princeton University, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Oxford, and the University of Cambridge.
